Hyperlinks, Indentation and Font Size!

I just came out of a meeting in which we went through the latest version of our checklist and my God, there are now more rules and guidelines when it comes to hyperlinks, indentation, font size, font type, acronyms, images, arrow boxes, tables and an endless list of other formatting features.

If you don't know it already, I work as (would you believe?) a technical writer. So following a predefined format while writing is not unusal but it can get a lil bit tedious, especially when you have to double-check everything to the tiniest detail. And that's probably the time you've got to upload the article into multiple systems and transfer the images into a server while encountering a million problems along the way.

Sigh. One fine day, I must do the whole quit-my-job-and-travel thing. Maybe do a whole European tour - assuming I'm rolling in money by then :P

Wondermilk @ Damansara Uptown

If you're a cupcake-loving person, you should check out Wondermilk cafe, located in Damansara Uptown. I've heard about this place from a number of people and being a die-hard fan of Cupcake Chic @ Curve, I just had to check out Wondermilk.

In addition to cupcakes, they also serve sandwiches and hot dogs but I have to admit, they've got a very different take on cupcake flavours. I noticed they had a lot of flavours that involved cheese - sadly, I'm not a fan of cheese. So I opted for the Chocolate Orange cupcake (think that's what it was called) and a cup of Hot Vanilla (RM6).

The cupcake tasted good (Note: Not great but just good) - it had a thin layer of marmalade at the botton so that added to the flavour. And it went well with my Hot Vanilla. But let me just say that I was disappointed with the size. For the price of RM4.50, the cupcakes are really small. Cupcakes at Cupcake Chic are the same price but twice as big with a generous amount of icing.

But Wondermilk is known for its custom-made, novelty cupcakes (from what I hear) and as you enter the cafe, there are shelves displaying cookies and boxes of tiny custom-made cupcakes.

Probably the best part of Wondermilk is the cafe itself. It's like something out of Alice in Wonderland. No, you don't see the Cheshire Cat or Mad Hatter lurking about or even the White Rabbit for that matter, but from the quirky decor you get the feeling that you just might eat or drink something that can alter your size. LOL.

Actually the place has a very whimsical feel to it. The one song that came to mind when I first sat down, was Owl City's Fireflies. If you've seen the music video for the song, then you would get what I'm talking about. Also, there are stuff on sale, such as T-shirts, bags, pouches, mugs and other odd knick knacks.

On the whole, I would say that Wondermilk cafe is a nice place to hang out. They've got an indoor and outdoor area but I suppose judging from the heat these days, you would probably want to sit in :)

My Morning to Work

6.50 am
Leave home to work.
Plug in iPod to the radio.
Stuck at a traffic light that has not been working for a couple of days now.

6.56 am
Stuck at a roundabout. Bloody cars refuse to give way.
Decide that songs in iPod are boring already. Tune in to Lite FM.

7.00 am
Reach another traffic light.
Decide to hunt around for Michael Jackson CD as Lite FM is too slow this morning.

7.08 am
Light turns green.
Still hunting for Michael Jackson CD. Where the hell could it be?
Almost hit a car in front of me. Note to self: NEVER multitask in a car.

7.20 am
Stuck at USJ 3 traffic light. Silenty curse the amount of cars on the road.
Find Michael Jackson CD. Put it in the player and the player makes a funny noise and spits it back out.

7.30 am
Traffic finally moves. Crawl to SS19 traffic light.
Had to turn Off/On the CD player to play Michael Jackson. Set to "Billie Jean".

7.40 am
Stuck in Sunway. Reach Caltex.
Turn to the car next to me and see a Chinese guy headbanging. He notices me watching and continues headbanging in his car.
Michael belts out "Thriller".
Check my hair out in the rear mirror. God, it's a bad hair life.

7.51 am
Reach LDP. Cars continue to crawl.
Eyelids start to droop.
Switched to iPod back. Sorry, Michael. Motley Crue's "Dr. Feelgood" blares through my speakers.

8.07 am
Reach Giant, Kelana Jaya.
Sing along to Glee's "Somebody to Love" with utmost passion. Malay guy in a car next to me gives me a strange look. What, I can't sing in my own car?
Suddenly remember I have not paid my car payment this month. Crap.

8.16 am
Finally reach Kelana Jaya LRT. 14 minutes left till I'm late for work.
Zig-zag through traffic. A series of annoyed honks follow me.
The Kinks' "All Day and All of the Night" start playing. Hmm, forgot I even placed that song in.

8.22 am
Pass by Damansara Uptown. Stop at the traffic light heading to TTDI.
Set a reminder on my phone to make car payment after work.

8.25 am
Do an F1 and reach my workplace parking lot. Damn, almost hit that pothole.
Park my car in the nearest spot.
Do a quick critical view of my appearance. This is as good as it's gonna get.

8.33 am
Reach my office. Darn lift is so slow! Lucky thing, boss not in yet :P

I'm Officially a Gleek!

The minute I saw the promo ads for Glee, I was instantly captivated. The minute I watched the first episode, I was immediately hooked. If you watch Star World then I'm sure you know that the series is aired every Wednesday at 10pm (right after American Idol).

Glee revolves around a group of high school, bottom-of-the-social-ladder, students who are trying to revive the Glee club - which involves singing and choreographed dance steps. The series is like a breath of fresh air compared to other TV series including the predictable Heroes (it's season 4, yet Sylar is still alive) and Private Practice (more sex and drama).

Personally, I think Glee is filled with snippets of humor and sacarsm to makes the series stand out from the rest. You've got the quirkiest of characters from the sadistic Sue Sylvester to the germaphobic Emma Pillsbury and those are only the teachers.

And another bonus point, the songs featured in the series are a delightful mix of old and new - from Journey's Don't Stop Believin' to Rihanna's Take A Bow to Queen's Somebody to Love. The Glee cast sings all the songs and sometimes they even sound better than the original!

If you've not watched an episode yet, tune in to Star World at 10pm on Wednesdays. Trust me, you will be entertained :)

Early Morning Mystery

I was on the LDP this morning, on my way to work, trying to figure out the snippet of songs in Lite FM's RM60,000 Music Mystery, when I noticed something strange. The car in front of me had something dangling from underneath.

When I went closer, I noticed that it was a toy! To be more specific, it looked like a Bugs Bunny soft toy stuck underneath the car. Oh alright, I know this may not seem that funny but how many times do you see soft toys dangling from cars during your morning rush to work?
