Bites @ Damansara & Subang

Chicken Teriyaki @ Old Asia, One U -
Skip this and head to Pasta Zanmai/Sushi Zanmai

as the food there is worth the price!

Sizzling Black Pepper Beef Set @ Vietnam Kitchen, One U (RM16) -
Portions were adequate & the wantons tasted good!

A tad bit peppery for my taste -
but the tender beef slices were delicious to eat

Roasted Duck Rice + Bean Sprouts with Salted Fish + Cabbage Soup (RM10-12)
@ Restoran Tek Kee Noodle House, USJ 10 Subang Jaya -
The cabbage soup tastes good enough to slurp the whole bowl - worth trying!

The Roasted Duck was seasoned nicely and hardly any fat in sight
I'm hardly a duck eater but this tasted great!

Succulent Pigs in Blanket (about RM10) @ Sid's Pub, TTDI -

Jerk BBQ Chicken (less than RM20) @ BBQ Chicken, One U -
Must try!
The chicken is nicely seasoned and coated with some spicy sauce
complemented by soft mashed potatoes. Not too much can be said about the coleslaw but otherwise this dish is worth the price!

Grilled Chicken Salad @ Station Kopitiam -
Very generous portions.
Chicken slices were as much as the salad, if not more.

Fried Chee Chong Fun @ Charms, One U -
Tasted exactly like Char Kuey Teow except for the sesame seeds
which did NOT go well.

Fried Kuey Teow (about RM10) @ Charms, One U -
Tasted good. Tad spicy and oily but love the prawns.

Loh Shi Fun (Pataya style) (about RM10) @ Charms, One U -
Evenly coated with fried egg but apparently tasted similar to Fried Kuey Teow.
Portions are good for at least 2 people.

Cracked Radiator, Faulty Hazard Lights, Rain-Drenched & Pineapples

Either of you received a pineapple from the person responsible for getting your car in an accident? Didn't think so.

Caramel honey and I were on our way back last Saturday. We were in my Kelisa driving into Tropicana, hoping to get back before the rain got worse. Cars were going slow and basically, it's not the kind of time you want to be out on the road.

As we neared a junction on the left, there was a Mazda CX-9 waiting in front. Obviously, the right thing would be to wait until cars have gone by before coming out into the main road, right?

Mazda CX-9
This guy decided to come out halfway and stop just as we were nearing. The fact that we were drawing closer didn't even prompt him to reverse his giant of a car. Of course, caramel honey tried braking but the rain caused the car to skid and we braced ourselves as we hit the Mazda's - not the body - but the humongous tyres!

Luckily, the driver of the Mazda came down and apologized immediately. To be honest, this elderly man looked a bit *cracks head for the word* peculiar. He had his hands-free on so I'm guessing he got distracted talking to someone that he didn't realize we were near him when he came out. Right now, I'm much calmer but at that very moment, I was fuming.

The Mazda had barely a scratch but my car was a different story. The hood had a massive dent in the middle, the bumper damaged on various sides, number plate broken and to make matters worse, caramel honey realized my car radiator was leaking. Mind you, while all this was going on, it was still pouring.
So anyway, we exchanged numbers and we told him we'd get in touch with him once the car had been towed to the workshop. Seeing that we were minutes away from caramel honey's place, we thought the leaking radiator could last the short drive back. But in less than a minute, the temperature had already shot up and we had to keep stopping the car to prevent further damage. It was also then we realized, my hazard lights were not working - probably something came loose during the accident.

Long story cut short - we got the car back without the engine exploding and managed to get it towed the next morning. Yesterday, the mechanic called us and informed that it would cost a whopping RM1600 for everything including spray painting.

We called up the Mazda guy and he said he would pay us in cash, provided we could give him the receipt. Monday night, he came over to caramel honey's place to give the cash. So there we were, counting all these RM50 notes, when he opened the backseat and went,

"You all eat pineapple, ah?"

We were too taken aback to reply. He looked all apologetic and said,

"I'm really sorry for all this. I can pay for the damages and offer you this la *holds out pineapple*"

So that night, caramel honey and I ended up with RM1600 and a...pineapple, to which we have no intention of cutting and eating (not really pineapple fans). I am thankful though that the guy was honest and paid for all the damages upfront but the fact that he gave a us a whole fruit is just too funny!

Anyone wants a pineapple?

Classic Rides, Explosive Chase, Million-Dollar Heist & Bikini Babes

Yes, we made it on time. But I have to say watching a midnight show on a Friday is not such a good idea especially if you've had a tiring day. Come 11pm, caramel honey and I were already heading into sleepzone. Good thing the movie's testosterone-induced, action-packed scenes were good enough to keep us glued.

I have to admit that this one is way better than the previous movies in the Fast & Furious franchise. Fast Five focuses more on surviving as fugitives rather than mindless car racing from Point A to Point B. The appearance of old cast members with the exception of the Rock and a few babes, didn't do much to enhance the storyline (especially Paul Walker's abysmal acting skills) but Ludacris did bring some humor to it.

My favorite scene is in the beginning *spoiler alert* when the car they steal/attempt to drive away in - goes over a cliff and plunge into the river below. We could hear the groans from guys in the cinema, probably wishing the car should have survived. LOL!

I like the 2010 Lexus LFA (as displayed above) amongst the many rides featured in Fast Five. There's also a scene with police cars (which is the ONLY race shown in the movie).

Caramel honey thought there should have been more cars and races but I told him, perhaps people are sick of seeing races in the last 4 movies that this would be a pleasant change compared to NOS-infused cars with garish neon-lights racing back and forth but cars are not the only eye candy you get to feast on in the movie.

Plenty of bikini action and biker chic scenes to stir up a rush of adrenaline. What can a movie from the Fast & Furious franchise be without hot babes in bikinis or mini-skirts?

For what it's worth, I thought the movie was entertaining - and this is a compliment especially since it's the 5th sequel. Plus, you get to see the Rock in his element with Vin Diesel (it was quite funny to watch, honestly!) and just so you know, there is a scene after the credits roll up which of course signifies - FF6!

Doggie Days Are Not Over

Not Fast Enough to Catch Fast Five

I'll be watching Fast and Furious 5 tonight.

The reason why I'm even stating this BEFORE watching the movie was because caramel honey and I initially wanted to watch it last week. We even paid for our tickets and just when we were about to leave - it started pouring. Really bad to the extent two exits from Tropicana were closed and the only other way to get to Tropicana City Mall was through the One U/Curve road (which of course just seemed suicide).

Still we tried and ended up getting stuck in the jam for more than 1/2 hour. If we had still gone for the movie, it would be just nice to catch the ending!

So, this time I'm hoping all goes well and no freakin' storm comes just before 11pm. I'm not keeping my hopes up for this one (coz let's face it - FIVE sequels is bad enough and Paul Walker's acting skills hasn't improved) but I've heard some good reviews about the movie so I'll just have to wait and see.

Creative Idea for Marriage Proposal

This is so funny and romantic that I simply had to blog about it. Sometimes, people tend to go really overboard in coming up with the GREATEST proposal ever. Sure, everyone wants to be unique but the true meaning has to be there - you want to MARRY her and not trump every other guy's proposal on the planet!

I think this guy did exactly that, as in be unique. He managed to combine humor and shock elements, while keeping it romantic. Talk about the amount of effort the guy took in preparation for this proposal!

Congratulations Matt & Ginny!

The Best of Google's Doodles

I've always been a fan of Google's doodles and if you didn't see today's one - you should. The animation was so seamless that you could just watch it over and over again without getting tired.

Click on the caption below the pic to watch a clip of the doodle and check out previous doodles that I thought were some of Google's best.

Today's doodle: Martha Graham's 117th Birthday

John Lennon's 70th Birthday

Jules Verne (view in HD)

It's not an animated doodle but I simply could not resist including this!

Digital Coupon Craze

In the last few months, we've seen a whole load of sites pop up to jump on the digital coupon bandwagon to the point where I'm now addicted to these sites. In addition to reading blogs and emails, I now go through Groupsmore, Dealmates and MyDeal as part of my morning routine.

I do have to point out though, I'm not one of those people that go crazy and start buying every voucher/coupon being advertised (which I think most people do!).

But so far, I think I've snapped up some pretty good deals. Groupsmore especially has a variety of vouchers compared to other sites which mostly focus on spa and mani-pedi deals. To date, I've bought about 200 bucks worth of vouchers relating to dance classes, mani-pedi, water sports, baking classes and hair services.

What about you - have you jumped on the digital coupon bandwagon lately?
