20 Bucks Lunch @ Pasta Zanmai

This was my first time at Pasta Zanmai, Mid Valley. My colleagues and me were figuring out a place to eat after watching New Moon (mind you, we were starving after watching Taylor Lautner strut his packs) and Pasta Zanmai seemed like a good place. We had to wait for about 15 minutes though as the place was packed to the brim.

Since the portions are quite large, the four of us ordered just 3 ala-carte dishes and opted to share. There was the Toriniku to Kinoko no Cream Sauce - chicken & japanese mushroom cream sauce pasta (RM19). I found it a bit too creamy for my taste but once the chili flakes and ground black pepper was added, the taste was great. The meal had a generous amount of roasted chicken pieces so that was a plus point.

We also ordered Ebi to Mochi no Cheese Pizza - prawn & japanese rice cake cheese pizza (RM26). Ooo....this was my favourite. Medium-sized prawns and mushrooms with a layer of cheese just made the whole dish even more scrumptious that it looked in the menu.

The Curry Sauce no Omu Rice - fried tomato chicken rice topped with omelette & curry sauce (RM18) was equally good. At first, I was a bit sceptical about having rice soaked in thick gravy but surprisingly, the curry sauce was delicious! It has this tangy, sweet taste that really went well with the rice and omelette.

We didn't really do much on drinks as 2 pots of green tea was enough for us. I was a lil bit disappointed though - we didn't have any dessert! The meal was so filling that we just didn't have any room left for dessert. Sigh. The overall bill for the 4 of us came to about 80 bucks. So for 20 bucks per person, I think it's really worth it.
